Take that!!! Now I don't rhyme with "Vanilla Ice"!! Sorry Vanilla (I wonder if a generation gap will stop people from understanding what the hell I'm talking about... god I'm getting old).
I'm slightly drunk right now, and it's not helping my late night drawing. But I feel I draw best late at night.
When people comment I draw "anime", I'm feel like I should say, "actually, I like videogames more than anime". Kind of a weird nonsense reply, but -- and if my page doesn't say it enough -- I feel I'm more inspired by videogames than necessarily what's "animated" (i.e. whatever's on TV). I loved 90s anime (which we got here more early 2000s). But after that, aside from the occasional series, I really tuned out. I keep trying to tune back in, but I don't have time and lose track or lose interest (why do so many shounen titles go on for 30+ volume [or 300+ episodes]!?!?
I'm always looking for new recommendations. Between TV, anime, movies, games, whatever. Also love to know who inspires people too. I should do one of those "influence map" memes... but so many artists do, it'd be just one longass tableau.

I think its just the style people are used to calling it. It'd be kind of weird to call it "Video game" art since...that pretty much means every style you could ever think of.
I hope you didn't understand it as styles, because yeah, video games are great for their style variety. But at heart, I feel like I'm more inspired by games than anime.
I even remember back in the early 2000s (2003? 2004?) when the Breath of Fire games were still around and popular, you were pretty inspired by those. And with good reason. Great games with some really cool art and characters.
Anyway, I also feel like I am inspired by a lot of things. Games, manga, some american comics, movies, music, etc.
I guess I would say, try not to worry so much about what people say. Just do what you love, with what inspires you, and let it form into its own thing.
